Q : In your showroom I saw many samples, and to tell you the truth I'm having a hard time deciding between plush and berber carpet. Which one is better ? A : There is no major difference between plush and berber carpet in form of performance. The biggest difference is in aesthetics; how the carpet looks and feels. Both, plush and berber, can be made of polyester or nylon fibers, and both can feel soft or firm underfoot. And both come with a less or more expensive price tag. We can help you find the right carpet that suit your needs and complements the right area, whether it's a bedroom, basement or attic.Carpet should please the eye and touch, but most importantly it should give you years of service. Q : Which manufacturer has higher standards ? A : All carpet manufacturers introduce similar qualities and compete with each other on every level from technology to variety of styles. The truth is that manufacturers are always searching for better, more resistant and softer fibers. Currently, all carpet manufacturers have achieved the same level of standards. The biggest difference between them is each manufacturer's selection of styles, colors, textures and patterns. To the customer, choosing a manufacturer is a metter of individual taste. Q : We are ready to purches carpet and we have removed the old carpet from the room. Should we also remove the old wood strips around the walls ? A : No. The professionals who come to install new carpet will check to see if your carpet teckles are still good or if they need to be replaced. The reason for this is that sometimes teckless strips are nailed to a concrete floor and it's possible that new ones will be harder to install. We try to avoid making new holes unless it is necessary in order to preserve your floor for future use. Q : How long does carpet delivery and installation take ? A : If you choose a carpet from our stock, it can be installed the next day. If you choose a carpet that needs to be ordered from the manufacturer it usually takes three to four days to arrive at our store, and will be available for installation the following day. Installation itself depends not only on the size of the room, but also a few other factors like old carpet removal and /or the moving of furniture. Sometimes weight of the carpet or its construction metters. For instance, patterned carpets need to be matched and installing this kind of carpet is more time consuming. In a nutshell, installation time varies but carpet in a standard small bedroom could be installed in less than an hour. Q : Can I measure the area myself and bring the dimensions to your store for quote ? A : Yes you can, we would be happy to give you an idea of how much carpet you will need. But before we can give you a final estimate and place your order, we need to send our professionals to your home to measure and see the layout. A professional measure prevents mistakes and minimizes carpet wastage which could save you money. Q : I'm purchasing a carpet with soft backing. Is there any advantage of having carpet with this kind of backing ? A : Soft Back is a new backing system that makes carpet softer, more flexible, and easier to install. It virtually eliminates interior damage resulting from scuffing and scratching walls and baseboards. It offers greater flexibility in cold weather conditions. Soft Back elasticity holds the stretch better and reduces carpet wrinkles. Carpets of Soft Back offer inherent softness underfoot, and exhibit enhanced appearance. Soft Back carpets provide greater sound absorption and increased insulation capacity. Q : Does our new carpet need to be professionally treated for stain resistance ? A : No. The carpet industry today offers high quality fibers that don't need to be treated with any protectants. All guards are simply built into the fiber through a stain and soil resistance treatment. This new generation of fibers naturally resists a wide variety of stains, fading, and the typical punishment of everyday soiling. Q : I'm moving to a new apartment with heated floors. Can I still put a carpet over it ? A : Yes. Underneat your floor there is a whole system of water pipes, therefore the carpet installation procedure will be a little bit different than normal.
